Its less than a week and the hackers have already completely ripped open the AppleTV and exposed its gooey insides to the world. And its some bloke from the Something Awful forums doing the hacking, it seems. Its nice to see them give back after they’ve taken so much.

It started with the installation of a bigger drive. Then the installation of a couple of badly needed codecs. Then they ripped the OS out of the thing and installed it on a Macbook for some reason. This in turn lead to working out the remote button-press combination that allows you to boot the AppleTV from an external USB drive (containing the ripped OS+codecs). You dont even have to open the machine anymore.

Again, its been about 5 days since this thing came out.

But do they have a hack for its $450AUD price tag?
